President Donald Trump said Wednesday that “anything less” than US control of Greenland is “unacceptable,” arguing the United States needs the territory for national security purposes, which could in turn strengthen NATO.
“NATO becomes far more formidable and effective with Greenland in the hands of the UNITED STATES,” Trump wrote in an early morning Truth Social post. “Anything less than that is unacceptable.” (CNN)
Hij kan er niet over ophouden en moet en zal zijn zin hebben, als de bijna tachtigjarige terreurkleuter die hij is. De VS heeft ooit tientallen bases gehad op Groenland en zou die er nu ook weer kunnen vestigen, dus dat veiligheidsargument is nonsens. Men vermoedt dan ook dat het eerder over de aardmetalen en andere grondstoffen in Groenland gaat. Of anders gewoon een gevolg is van Trumps grootheidswaanzin.
Militair- en veiligheidsanalyst Malcolm Nance heeft zo zijn gedachten over wat er staat te gebeuren als de VS op militaire manier een overname zou afdwingen:
