Bij de Kinks wordt het Last of the steam powered trains, 1968, inderdaad het jaar waarin stoomtractie op de Britse spoorwegen werd beëindigd (sindsdien is zij uit “nostalgische toeristische” overweging wel weer teruggekomen. 1968 was ook het jaar waarin de vooroorlogse tweeassige trams in Amsterdam uit de passagiersdienst verdwenen, wat een samenloop).
