Deze dag is in de VS uitgeroepen als nationale actiedag tegen het Army Corps of Engineers. Maar gezien er vele plekken in de wereld ook allerlei solidariteitsdemonstraties worden georganiseerd, kun je beter spreken van een wereldwijde actiedag.

Telesur laat in haar artikel enige activisten aan het woord die het belang van deze acties, zeker nu onderstrepen: “We weten dat verkiezingen en individuen alleen geen verandering brengen: bewegingen doen dat wel.”
