Dimmu Borgir is één van de leukere bands uit het black metal genre, alleen al omdat ze er regelmatig in slaagt daadwerkelijke songs te produceren. Tekstueel is het standard fare over Satan, demonen, oorlog, Armageddon en De Ondergang Van Alles, maar muzikaal is het heel knap gedaan. De band weet zelfs de invloed van klassieke componisten als Wagner fraai te verwerken in de eigen songs, iets wat we niet van alle symfonische rockers kunnen zeggen. Ja, we hebben het over jou, Rick Wakeman.
