Psychedelische klassieker du jour: I Can Hear The Grass Grow

Een accurate beschrijving van een LSD-trip, inclusief het gevoel dat iedereen naar je kijkt. Vreemd genoeg werd de song niet getroffen door de banhamer en haalde de single in 1967 de vijfde plaats in de Britse hitparade.

The Move was het geesteskind van Roy Wood, die vrijwel alle nummers van de band schreef. Wood zou later the Electric Light Orchestra oprichten, een band die hij in 1972 met een genereus gebaar overdeed aan Jeff Lynne. Onder aanvoering van Lynne zou ELO zich ontwikkelen tot één van de meest populaire bands van de jaren ’70. Wood richtte na zijn vertrek uit ELO de band Wizzard op. Wizzard scoorde een hele serie hits in GB, maar deed in de VS en in Europa helemaal niks. Ook heel erg aanbevolen: Wood’s solo-album Boulder, waarop hij zelf alle instrumenten bespeelt.
