In de Somalische hoofdstad Mogadishu waren rond 18.00 uur Nederlandse tijd zware explosies te horen. Volgens de laatste berichten zou er een autobom tot ontploffing zijn gebracht in het Vredespark. Een hotel nabij het presidentiële paleis zou onder vuur liggen.

Tegenstrijdige berichten. Volgens sommigen zou de aanval op het hotel afgeslagen zijn door de beveiliging, maar volgens anderen wordt er in het hotel gevochten. Ooggetuigen zeggen dat er tenminste 6 mensen gewond zijn geraakt bij de eerste explosie.

Volgens de politie zouden tenminste 6 mensen zijn omgekomen, waaronder twee leden van Al-Shabaab

Aanval en bezetting hotel door BBC bevestigd:
Al-Shabab told the BBC they were “in control” of the hotel.
“We have attacked the SYL Hotel and we’ve forced our way into the hotel,” they said.
